Manchmal möchte man einfach Informationen des Shop-Kunden im Dokument speichern. So ist es von Vorteil, die Rechnungsnummer auf dem Dokument zu drucken. Das kann eine einfache Textinformation sein oder ein Strich-Barcode. Dieser Film zeigt, wie (im Moment) vorgegangen werden muss. Außerdem zeige ich noch, wie 2D-Barocdes angelegt werden. Diese sind ja bekanntlich in der Lage viel mehr Informationen aufzunehmen, als der 1D-Barcode. || Sometimes you just want to store information of the shop’s customers in the document. So it is advantageous to print the invoice number on the document. This can be a simple text or a barcode. This film shows how to proceed (for now) has. Moreover, I show how 2D Barocdes be created. Wir haben uns entschieden, den Fokus auf die Video-Tutorials zu legen und arbeiten ständig daran weiter.
Das Handbuch in geschriebener Form wird noch ein wenig warten müssen. Ich hoffe, Ihr habt Verständnis dafür und könnt mit den Videos ebenfalls etwas anfangen.
Wundert euch nicht, wenn sich immer mal wieder das Layout oder die Texte ein wenig ändern. Viele Texte werden von mir als ‚Arbeitstexte‘ verfasst und von meinen Kollegen Johannes Goebel (Marketing) in gut zu verstehenden Text umgeschrieben. Dabei überprüft er nicht nur Grammatik, Ausdruck und Rechtschreibung (gibt es noch etwas?), sondern überprüft und verbessert auch meine englischen Texte. Vielen Dank Johannes!

All who know the DirectSmile Cross Media already will be thrilled by the new tool. I only say so much, OS, easy to create Web pages (so easy, that can also the Marketing Manager J), super nice (cool) web templates and thousands of horny ideas are built. So watch out! Jetzt sind wir gerade erst im August und trotzdem haben die Kollegen von DirectSmile wie wild gesammelt und viele Weihnachtsartikel zusammen getragen. Weihnachtsmänner, Nussknacker, Weihnachtskugeln, Lichter und so weiter. Warum das alles? Nun letzte Woche stand ein Photoshooting für die neuen DirectSmile Bildsets an. Das Shooting fand im besten Hotel statt – das Hotel Adlon in Berlin. Im Kaminzimmer des Hotels war mein Kollege Victor Patan (Graphik Designer) sowie unser guter Freund und Fotograph Frank Wölffing-Seelig (www.studio36.de) dabei die Fotos zu schießen. Auf einigen DirectSmile Sets wird die kleine Kenia zu sehen sein. Sie ist die Tochter unserer Kollegin Nicole. Right now we are only in August and still have the colleagues of Direct Smile collected as wild and worn many Christmas items together. Santas, nutcrackers, Christmas balls, lights and so on. Why all this? Well last week was a photo shoot for the new Direct Smile Picture Sets. The shooting took place in the best hotel – the Hotel Adlon in Berlin. In the “Kaminzimmer” (room with fireplace) of the hotel, my colleague Victor Patan (graphic designer) and our good friend and photographer Frank Wölffing-Seelig (www.studio36.de) shoot the photos. Some DirectSmile sets the small Kenya will be on display. She is the daughter of our colleague, Nicole. Soon you can see the new X-mas sets on our Direct Smile Shop (http://www.directsmile.de/shop/)

Although the blog-movies from time to time I’m getting request about the mug project. Therefore the step by step tutorial.
What do I need – Software & co?
1. DSMI or Card & Gift Shop
2. DSM Online Set Plug-In (installed on Server and PC –> on the place of your workstation)
3. Log-In for DSMI or Card & Gift Shop
What do I need – sets/docs?
Based the product I’ll need 5 items:
1. One DSM-Set as product thumbnail
1.1. background image of the Sets: *.png with transparent
1.2. text frame on the set –> personalisation = PictureInPicture
1.2.1. good to use …Actions: “redraw foreground” + “mask based shadow” (see Blog)
2. One DSM-Set for the product preview
2.1. background image of this set: *tif/*.jpg no Transparent (because transparent sets are not supported on the document)
2.2. text frame on the set –> personalisation = PictureInPicture
3. One DSM-Set for the print production
3.1. background image of this Sets: *tif/*.jpg no Transparent (because transparent sets are not supported on the document)
3.1.1. Format and size depends the admeasurements of the cup/mug (U =2πr)
4. One DSM-Document for the preview on the shop
5.One DSM-Document for printing the mug
How do I start?
1. In same order we have to setup DSM-Sets and Documents. If we are finished each Set/document has to be transferred to the DSMI- Repository.
1.1. DSM-Sets: on all DSM-Sets don’t touch the Option “fill out frame” (PictureInPicture Properties)
1.2. keep in your mind the size/resolution of the backgrounds (Thumbnail = small, preview = bigger, but not too large, print= depending the mug
1.3. keep in your mind: the action “redraw foreground” only works on areas with pixel-information on the background image (see Blog)
1.4. the printable set needs the size of the mug (Umfang=2πr)
2. We have to setup two DSM-Documents:
2.1. The preview document is needed to display a perspective model of the mug. To do so we will place the preview-dsm-set on this document. Furthermore based this document we will create unlimited virtual documents
2.1.1. Please place an image frame in size of the preview set
2.1.1. SYNC –> TYPE –> Online Set Plug-In –> choose a default set and –> go to “Wrapper Set” –> here you have to choose the preview -Set (from point 2. One DSM-Set for the product preview) –> OK –> Name of the Variable “DSMOset” (example) –> OK
2.2. On the bridge you have to create a new group (right mouse menu (RMM) on “variables from the document” –> new variable group
2.2.1. next: move the variable into it
2.2.2. RMM on the variable –> edit Interface –> on the first TAB we’ll find “Interface Type” –> here you have to choose “Online Set in virtual documents” –> OK
2.3. Please transfer the whole document to DSMI–> on the Job-Editor window –> menu “DirectSmile Online” –> “transfer document to DirectSmile online”
!!careful!! Please choose same names for variable and groups on either documents
2.4. Now let’s go to create our printable document
2.4.1 document size = size of the printable DSM-Set
2.4.2. Please place an image frame in size of the printable set –> SYNC –> TYP= Online Set Plug-in –> choose Default Set + “Wrapper Set” = the printable Set –> OK –> name of the variable “DSMOset” (example) –> OK
2.4.3. On the bridge you have to create a new group (right mouse menu (RMM) on “variables from the document” –> new variable group
2.4.4. next: move the variable into it
2.4.5. RMM on the variable –> edit Interface –> on the first TAB we’ll find “Interface Type” –> here you have to choose “Online Set in virtual documents” –> OK
2.4.6. Please transfer the whole document to DSMI–> on the Job-Editor window –> menu “DirectSmile Online” –> “transfer document to DirectSmile online”
2.4.7. Creating the Imposition: On the job-editor window –> start –> on the print dialog –> imposition –> create (find a good name) –> OK –> edit –> you’ll get opened the imposition tool –> make all needed settings (manual available on the download centre) –> export a *.dimp file (dimp = directsmile imposition) on the desktop (filename is up to you)
3. What we’ve done: On the Repository of DSMI we’ll find follow: 3x DSM Set (thumbnail, product preview, print), 2x DSM-document (product preview, print), 1x Imposition (Desktop)
3.1. Let’s switch over to the repository and select the folder “Directsmile” (root folder on top of all folder). Afterwards let’s create a new group-folder (on bottom right). Please press the button (!! no spaces please) e.g. “mug”
3.2. select the new group (on the left) and continues to create an additional group (sub-group) with name e.g. “Love”
3.3. The two document has to be moved into the group “mug” (via drag&drop)
3.4. The DSMI has already exist several DSM-Sets. We need some copies of them to get mugs with different motives. Please use the drag&drop + CTRL to move copies into the sub-group “Love”
3.5. currently do we have two documents on the group “mug” plus several DSM-Sets on the group “Love”. Now let’s prepare the preview-document as “Master doc”. The Document item has a wrench-symbol. Please click on it to get the properties displayed.
3.5.1. check the Option “Master”
3.5.2. on the left of the properties we can find a drop down menu. Please choose the thumbnail – Set (that was the transparent set)
3.5.3. Also here you will find “user values” and then “Product group”. Here you have to choose a product group (it’s necessary).
3.5.4. Unfortunately it’s still necessary to place the name of the chosen Thumbnail-Set on the input field “Thumbnail Set” again –> “Save & Close”
3.6. Now we will connect our Master Doc with the DSM-Sets from group “Love”. That will be managed by “TAGs”.
3.6.1. Bottom right you’ll find “start symbol”. Press the button to create a new TAG e.g. “MugLove”.
3.6.2. On the right you’ll find all TAGs. Take your tag via drag&drop and move it to the “Master doc” of the group “mug”. Then select the group “Love” and repeat the step to tag all DSM-Sets with the tag “MugLove”
3.6.3. Hold on the group “Love” because the final step is still open. On Top, centre we have to press the button “virtual”.
test:
On the card & ´gift shop –>Please log-on as shop-administrator –> Shop-Settings –> reload catalogue
Now you can see the new group “mug” with sub-group “Love”. The product previews are based the transparent set. After “click” on one of them you’ll a preview of the product (Document with Product-preview-set)
4. Workflow
to test the workflow you have to finish one order completely.
4. 1. go back to the repository of the DSMI –> look for “Workflow” (WF) –> press
4.2. On the WF you’ll find several buttons. Please press the folder-symbol with the + plus sign
4.3. Now you are ready to create a new WF
4.3.1. press –> Add Rule –> on the menu “documents” you have to choose the “Master Doc” – our product preview –> also check the Checkbox “Override document with the …” –> and choose from the list the printable document –> OK –> Create & Close
4.4. Again –> Please press the folder-symbol with the + plus sign to add a second WF
4.4.1. press –> Add Rule –> on the menu “documents” you have to choose the “printable” document . –> OK –> Create & Close INFO: all needed WF-Settings can be managed here (add. info on the manual “DSMI”)
Finally: Automatically your Order (order-item) should be moved from “Unassigned Order Items” into the second WF.
